What is Vigo Video?
Vigo Video is a short video making app that encourages creators to get creative with their clips and rewards them with cash payouts.
Vigo Video app users must be 16 years of age and older to download and use the app and is available for iOS and Android devices. While free to download and use, Vigo Video does feature in-app advertisements and purchases.
When users open the Vigo Video app they’ll be in the Home section of the app, which features recommended videos. Users also have the option of searching for videos posted by nearby users.
The bottom of the Vigo Video screen presents users with additional options, such as the Activity menu which shows all of a user’s video likes, messages, and new followers.
Much like a Facebook feed, tapping on the Following option will open a feed with all of the activity of those accounts a user follows. Tapping the Me option in the bottom right-hand corner takes users to their home page where they can manage their Vigo Video accounts.
Users can let friends and family know that they’re on the platform by tapping a share icon while in their account page, which then gives them the option to share via Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, in addition to providing a direct link to copy and paste.
While in their account page, Vigo Video users can fine-tune their account settings by tapping the gear icon. The Settings menu allows users to adjust their privacy settings, set their notifications preferences, clear their cache and change other account details.
Is Vigo Video safe for my kids?
Parents should be aware that the Vigo Video app requires users to be 16 years of age or older to download and use the app. Children under the age of 16 will be violating the terms of service. Per the privacy policy language, Vigo Video appears to take the app age requirements very seriously:
Users under the age of 16 are not allowed to use the Platform or register an account on the Platform. If we become aware that personal data has been collected from a person under the age of 16, we will delete this information and terminate the person’s account. If you believe that we may have personal data about or collected from a child under the age of 16, please contact us at feedback@vigovideo.net.
Also important to note, users should check the Vigo Video app’s privacy policy periodically as it is subject to change without notice.
Those users continuing to use the app after such changes are made automatically accept the terms. Those users who do not agree with the change in terms should discontinue their use of the Vigo Video app.
Parents should be aware that Vigo Video is a social video app. Friendly users who upload fun and interesting video clips to the app can be rewarded with “Flame,” which are monetary gifts from the app. Flame balances can be paid out through PayPal.
The more popular a user’s videos, the more flame they earn. This can be enticing for teens, but the reality is that they will need a lot of views,a little like YouTube, and responsive patreons to make a significant amount of money through the Vigo Video app.
Vigo Video does have specific community guidelines which prevent users from posting sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, or solicitous material, adding a strong layer of protection against a lot of the inappropriate material that would flood the video feeds without such guidelines.
Another concern is the chat feature. Users can chat with others directly or in groups, and often they might not know the person they are chatting with, but simply met them in the app.
Vigo Video is not safe for younger kids, and even teens who fit the age recommendation of the app should be monitored with a watchful eye.
