Is Twitter safe for my kids?

Twitter is safe for mature teens who can be trusted to use the platform safely.

Twitter has no enforced filtering system when it comes to tweets and photos, so teens can stumble upon mature content while scrolling through feeds. Users can also follow links that will take them off the platform and onto a different website.

The app does feature privacy settings. Users can set their account to Private so their tweets can only be seen by their friends and approved followers. Twitter also includes a direct messaging feature, so parents may choose to keep an eye on their kid's messages.
