What is TapeACall Pro: Call Recorder?

TapeACall Pro is a telephone call recording app that allows users to record, save and share phone recordings. TapeACall Pro is a subscription-based app for iOS devices that allows users to record an unlimited number of calls for an annual cost of $10.99; additional plan options are available for purchase in the app.

Perfect for reporters and other media professionals who frequently conduct interviews by phone, TapeACall Pro is a quick, easy, and almost foolproof app to use for recording telephone conversations.

TapeACall Pro can be used to record both incoming and outgoing calls, which are bundled into individual files within seconds of the completion of a recorded phone call.

Once the recording is bundled into an MP3 format, users can easily label the recording for file management as well as share and export that file via SMS message, email, Facebook, Twitter, and transcription apps, such as Rev.  Users can also upload their file to Evernote, Dropbox or Google Drive.

TapeACall Pro works by utilizing an access number and merging an existing phone call to record.

Easy to use, users select an access number near them to call into when initiating a call. Once the call picks up, the user inputs the number of the person they wish to reach and then taps “Merge call” once that person picks up to begin recording on the access number.

Once the call is completed and the user hangs up, the resulting MP3 file of the conversation is packaged, and a notification pops up telling the user that the file is ready.

Users have an option to have a “beep tone” sound every 30 seconds during a recorded call, alerting both parties that the phone conversation is being recorded. The default mode is to have the beep tone disabled, so users must manually enable the sound to utilize this option.

Is TapeACall Pro: Call Recorder safe for my kids?

TapeACall Pro features easy access to telephone recording laws so that users are aware of the legality of their call recordings. “Phone Recording Laws” is located under the Settings menu and when users select it for the first time, they’re provided with a disclaimer that reads:

The materials we make available in respect to telephone recording laws are for informational purposes only and not for the purpose of providing legal advice. You should contact your attorney to obtain advice with respect to any particular question, issue, or concern.

Users either select “I Agree” or “Cancel” to continue. Users who select “I Agree” are directed to the Wikipedia page for “Telephone recording laws,” which provides a quick overview of the regulations surrounding recording telephone conversations.

TapeACall Pro is a handy tool, but parents should know that children can easily abuse it and quickly be turned into a tool for cyberbullying.

Like the party lines in days of old, where a third party would silently be on the line while two other participants had a conversation, TapeACall Pro allows users to easily record phone conversations and share the recordings via text and social media.

Parents should discuss the legality of taping phone conversations, as well as the ramifications of cyberbullying, before allowing their child to use the TapeACall Pro application.

There don't seem to be many uses in which an app of this nature would be appropriate or needed for kids.  If your family does decide to utilize this app, it can be safe for kids with parental supervision.
