Timehop is a simple app that acts like a blast from the past for users and touts itself as a “Throwback Thursday everyday”.

If users select to create an account attached to their phone number, they will once again be prompted to connect to Facebook but can elect to skip this option.

In continuing Timehop will ask for permission to access your camera roll and to connect to your Instagram, Twitter, Google, Foursquare, and Dropbox accounts. Again, users can skip through these options if they do not wish to connect their accounts. Timehop will also ask to send you daily reminders before you are able to get started.

Once in the app users will be taken to a screen that they can tap through to see what has happened on that day in the years before. Timehop will also through in some fun facts and trivia. After you tap or swipe through that days reminders, you have to wait until the next day to see something new.

The app’s interface is very simple and opens to your daily Timehop and features a settings button in the upper-right hand corner. In setting users can connect or disconnect social platforms, change their reminder settings, get help, log out, or delete their account.

The Timehop app is safe for kids and they will not be interacting with anything that they haven’t already posted themselves or taken photos or videos of.

Timehop can to connect to social media but it never posts on your behalf. Parents should know that there is the ability to share your Timehop to those platforms so you may want to discuss how to appropriately share photos and videos.
