What is Shazam: Music Discovery?

Shazam is a music identification app that allows users to identify what song they are listening to, watch video clips, and discover related music all with the touch of a button.

This app is available in both the App Store and the Google Play Store. It is rated for users 12 years of age and older. This app features both in-app purchases and advertisements.

Once the app is opened, you can simply hold down the blue button in the middle in order to determine what song you are listening to.

After the app has shown you the title, you will have the option to watch the music video, purchase the song from a third party, add the song to a Spotify playlist, or discover similar music.

To view all of your previous Shazams, simply go to your “My Shazam” page on the app and browse through your history.

This app also offers the option of syncing to other social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. By doing this, you can see what songs your friends have found on Shazam, as well as share your own discoveries with the world.

Shazam has been downloaded over 5 million times and consistently receives good reviews, making it one of the most popular music apps available for download.

Is Shazam: Music Discovery safe for my kids?

This app is safe for mature teens but parents should be aware that the app itself does not contain any inappropriate themes, the music that users can search for oftentimes contains mature lyrics featuring profanity, suggestive subjects, and references to both violence and drugs.

There is no currently no age verification process in place to download or use the app.

Because Shazam has many connections with other social media sites and encourages syncing different accounts with the app, it may not be a good app choice for children that are not allowed to have these profiles.

It should be noted that the app does offer in-app purchases, something that parents may not be comfortable with.

If you would like to prevent your child from making unwanted transactions, simply prevent them from using the app altogether or disable in-app purchases in their phone’s settings.

Despite the app’s mature themes and connections with other social media platforms, there is no way to directly contact other Shazam users. This decreases the risk of users coming into contact with Internet predators and having inappropriate conversations.
