What is Selfie Beauty Hour Pro - Ultimate Camera Photo Editor on Effects & Filters & Frames?
Selfie Beauty Hour Pro is a basic photo editing app that allows users to create collages and add basic effects with stickers, frames and a handful of filters.
Rated for users ages 4 years and older, Selfie Beauty Hour Pro is available only for iOS devices and costs $0.99 to download in the App Store.
Any app that requires users to give a 5-star rating before allowing them to access the app is suspect, at best. So when users encounter the free version of the Selfie Beauty Hour Pro app, Beauty Hour, they see that the app is rated 4.9 out of 5 stars.
The high rating of the free version of the app is the result of the app requiring users to rate the app 5-stars before being able to use the app. At the time of review, the app no longer forced users to give a 5-star rating to open and provided an option to rate the app at a later time.
Once users open the Selfie Beauty Hour Pro app, they’re asked to provide access to their camera’s photo gallery. Once access is granted to the camera roll, users tap on up to six photos from their camera roll that they wish to include in their photo collage.
Once photos are selected, users tap Finish and pictures are placed into a collage frame, where they can adjust photo placement within individual frames, add text and change font styles and colors.
To change the font style, color, and effect, users double-tap on the text and options will appear in a pop-up menu and simple how-to instructions are shown in a scrolling menu at the top of the screen.
Once users have chosen the photos they wish to work with, they can play around with different collage frame options under the Puzzle menu at the bottom of the screen.
Additional editing options include: adding a Border, Sticker, Face features, and applying a Filter to the collage.
It should be noted that each time a menu option is selected, the photos will revert to the default within their frames, meaning that any adjustments a user has made, centering a picture within the frame, for example, are lost.
The difference between the free version of the Beauty Hour app comes by way of options. The free version requires users to provide a 5-star rating to unlock additional options, whereas the Pro version opens all of the options for the one-time payment of $0.99.
Once users are finished adding effects to their collage, they tap Preview in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and have the option of adding a spotlight or blur filter before tapping the Export option at the top of the screen.
When finished, users tap Export and are given the option to Save their collage or Share on Twitter, Facebook or Other social media platforms.
Is Selfie Beauty Hour Pro - Ultimate Camera Photo Editor on Effects & Filters & Frames safe for my kids?
The functions the Selfie Beauty Hour Pro app provides are pretty basic and not particularly worth the $0.99 download price, especially when there are so many more sophisticated options available for iOS devices.
It’s important to note that the app developer link, the only link available for contacting the developer or accessing privacy and terms of use, leads to an inactive Twitter account, created in 2013, that has never tweeted.
Parents should steer their children away from the Selfie Beauty Hour Pro app and towards a more reputable option.
