What is Secret Guard?
SecretGuard allows users to password-protect virtually everything on their mobile device, individually. Users need only use their SecretGuard secure logins to log into any of their favorite apps or sites, as login information is securely stored locally on the device.
SecretGuard is free to download and use, but does feature in-app purchases, and is only available for iOS devices.
In an age when so much of daily life is conducted online and personal information is frequently submitted through the web, an app like SecretGuard is helpful to keep all of one’s login information, bank account and credit card information in one place and secured.
SecretGuard requires users to create a master password to get started and users can later add Touch ID authentication once their account is set up.
Once in the app, it functions as a virtual Rolodex with little cards for each account and password information, such as Facebook login credentials, in addition to email accounts and bank information.
SecretGuard features the ability for users to backup and restore information, should their devices be lost or the app be accidentally deleted. Working with Dropbox, SecretGuard allows users to sync their information for backup and then can recover data from Dropbox when needed.
Is Secret Guard safe for my kids?
While password managers are typically excellent apps for children and can be beneficial for parents teaching the importance of online safety and protecting personal information, SecretGuard is iffy, at best.
With no user reviews and broken links to both the developer and app support sites, users would be wise to bypass this app for a more reputable one.
For those choosing a more accessible format than a notebook listing all of this information password managers are a great option, as long as they’re reputable.
The reality is that there is not a lot of information about the SecretGuard app available and parents should be wary of considering this option for password management, especially when there are so many other viable options on the market.
