The mobile compliment to the web-based system, the Schoology app allows students to access course materials, assignments, videos and participate in chats for online courses. The Schoology app also assists students with managing and prioritizing workflow and tasks.
Not only does the Schoology app enable students to access course content and due dates from their mobile device, but they are also able to communicate with teachers and classmates.
Schoology is an app is designed to be a tool for teachers to communicate information to students and parents outside of the classroom.
Modeled as an educational social media platform, both students and parents will be familiar with the Facebook-style platform. Students can see grades that are posted for each assignment, share information, files, videos, links, with classmates and teachers, as well as join groups for projects and communicating with classmates.
Teachers can send students assignments or homework, and parents can track student progress and communicate with teachers within Schoology.
Schoology app accounts are free and require users to have existing accounts on the web platform. While parent, teacher, and student accounts are free on the Schoology app, the platform is paid for and customized by the school district using Schoology.
Schoology has fully integrated the use of Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, allowing teachers to link to a myriad of resources, spreadsheets, documents, and video clips within the system.
With the Drive integration, students can access supplemental course materials directly through Schoology without having to leave the platform for a third-party site.
When students log into Schoology, they can navigate from their home page to a feed of recent activity ranging from teacher assignments to specific project group notes. When teachers post assignments, students are able to respond to the posts just like Facebook status updates, which is helpful for answering student questions in a way that all students can see the answer.

Parents should be aware that there is a mail function within the Schoology system that allows students to email both their teachers and classmates.
