Video.me is a combination of a social network and music video editor. With the Video.me app users can create music videos, adding cool effects with just the tap of a finger, and share with their social media networks.

 

The Video.me app is rated for users of all ages and is available only for Android devices.  This app features advertisements.

 

With teens conducting so much of their lives on their smartphones, Video.me presents a great opportunity for kids to experiment with video editing and producing, without investing in the cost of expensive software.
 

Once users record their video, they have the ability to add what Video.me calls “Hollywood blockbuster effects.” The blockbuster effects are a creation of the developer’s enthusiasm, but Video.me users can create fun effects, such as holding a ball of fire or energy.

 

Users can also add stickers to their videos and add music tracks for a more professional video editing feel. There’s no denying it, for a free app, users can create videos with a lot of cool effects, they’re just not “Hollywood blockbuster” quality.

Is Video.me - Video Editor, Video Maker, Effects safe for my kids?

Parents should be aware that Video.me is a social app, so their child’s activity and interactions on the platform should be monitored.

Also worth noting is that the Google Play store link to the developer site leads to a site called Gomo, which lists their mobile apps but does not list Video.me as a product of theirs.

The Video.me privacy policy, however, does lead to a gomo subsidiary site. Parents should explore the company further before allowing their child to download the Video.Me app.

Parents should be aware that standard permissions apply with the Video.me app, including access to a device’s camera, microphone, and gallery.

What’s not exactly clear is what the Video.me app requires the following access permissions:

  • Wi-Fi connection information:
    • Allows the app to view information about Wi-Fi networking, such as whether Wi-Fi is enabled and names of connected Wi-Fi devices
  • Device ID & call information:
    • Allows the app to determine the phone number and device IDs, whether a call is active, and the remote number connected by a call

Parents should ensure that they review guidelines for creating and posting videos to social networks with their children prior to allowing them to use the Video.me app.

This app can be safe for older kids with parental supervision.
