While advertised as free to download, Text 2 Group Pro features additional in-app purchases to streamline the user experience. The Pro account costs $2.99 but will incur an additional $9.99 subscription fee.
For those wondering why it would be necessary to subscribe to a group email app, it’s important to point out that some service providers (AT&T) limit the number of contacts that can be added to a group text in iMessage.
Is Text 2 Group Pro safe for my kids?
This app is safe for kids, but terms of service require that users be 13 years of age and older.

As a Coach, I've used this app to mass communicate by both text and email to players and parents of my high school athletic teams. This is not easily done with native iPhone features. It's great to easily create and select pre-determined contacts from my address book and set up groups like "parents," "players" or "both" and even further segregate by subgroups like JV and Varsity. Among my favorite features is when sending out a mass text, individual replies to me don't get copied to or seen by the whole list of recipients - just me as the original sender. If you've ever been group-texted and you start seeing responses from all sorts of unknown people (text numbers) that aren't in your contact list you know that can get annoying and confusing. This app eliminates that problem. Highly recommend!
While the ability to receive individual responses without the entire contact list being copied in is an excellent selling point for the Text 2 Group Pro app, it does not accommodate contact information filtering or blind copying.
Text 2 Group Pro is not the solution for those wishing to keep contact information for group members hidden or “blind,” nor will it appear as though messages are being sent directly to a single recipient.
The app displays the contact information for all the users being sent the email or text message for all users in the group. There is no way to hide this info and keep phone numbers private.
Parents should be aware that the Text 2 Group Pro app is pricey for use as a group texting tool for teens, but serves a great purpose for those needing to convey information to a group of parents, colleagues, teammates, etc.
It’s also worth noting that Text 2 Group Pro only allows iPads to send group messages. SMS is not available for iPads.
