What is Testfoni?

Testfoni advertises itself as a free trivia entertainment app, but many users report the app as a scam.

Rated for users ages 17 years and older, Testfoni is only available for Android devices and can be downloaded for free in the App Store; in-app purchases come in the form of subscriptions, which cost $29.99 per week or month, depending on the options users choose.

With questions such as, “Which hairstyle does your soul represent?” and “How will you look like when you older,” it’s apparent that the Testfoni app is meant for mindless entertainment, grammar and spelling aside.

The big question is that whether the entertainment Testfoni provides is worth the hefty $29.99 subscription cost.

Is Testfoni safe for my kids?

Testfoni is rated for adult users, likely because of the subscription cost, not the content within the app. Touting itself as free, the internet and Google Play Store is rife with disgruntled customers who were duped and consider the app a scam.

The reality is that users can download the Testfoni app at no charge, but the app itself is a paywall. There is no way to take a “fun” quiz or find out what celebrity a user looks like without opting into a $30 per month (or week) subscription, especially when there are many similar apps out there offering the same “quizzes” for free.

Here is just one of many user complaints about the Testfoni app, this one taken directly from the app’s Facebook page:

They advertise on Facebook as a free trial app. Downloaded the app, tried it for less than 2 minutes and removed it immediately because the app sucks! A week later I was charged $40 dollar for a subscription for this scam app! I reported this to iTunes and they said "We would like to inform you, iTunes is just a storefront to sell contents".

With other words, iTunes is allowing scam apps like these to be sold on its storefront. So you have been warned for TestFoni. iTunes however promised a refund.

Another user review states:

“Fraud and taking advantage of people. There needs to be some kind of regulation with this type of false advertising.” And feedback from someone who willingly subscribed to Testfoni says, “Never could use the test I got the app for... useless and expensive.

Huge waste of time... remember to cancel your subscription on your settings!”

It appears that Testfoni is spending a significant amount of money to advertise on popular social media platforms, luring people in with a quiz that encourages them to download the app to see results and then charging $29.99.

Here is someone who stumbled upon the Testfoni app on Instagram; she says, “SCAM! Accidentally downloaded this "free trial" app on @instagram. No way to cancel it. Says it will automatically "renew" for $30 in 3 days. Trying to get @apple to keep from charging our account. How is this @apple app even allowed on the app store?”

Another user describes their experience, saying, “They say free and then charge you $29.99 a few days later. Not to mention they make it almost impossible to get ahold of them once they steal your money. $29.99 for some stupid quizzes? Fail.”

Simply put, the Testfoni app is not suitable for either children or adults, per user feedback. With the sheer amount of poor reviews and users complaining about being scammed, it’s best to steer clear of Testfoni and find another entertainment app to kill time taking quizzes.
