What is Sandbox - Pixel Art Coloring?

The Sandbox Coloring app takes coloring by number into the digital age, by offering coloring pages for mobile devices. Sandbox Coloring allows users to color pixel art by using a number-based legend to guide them.

Rated for users ages four years and older, Sandbox Coloring is free to download and use, and contains no advertisements, but does offer additional perks via in-app purchases.

The Sandbox Coloring app is a color-by-number app that presents coloring pages with color legends which users fill in pixel by pixel. Once the Sandbox Coloring app is downloaded, it opens to a gallery of greyscale pictures, which users can scroll through to choose a coloring page they wish to complete.

The Sandbox Coloring app offers three subscription rates and types, with a $2.99 weekly subscription, $7.99 for a monthly subscription, or a single $39.99 purchase for an annual subscription.

Unlike other services, which typically offer more simplistic coloring pages and designs for free, there seems to be no rhyme or reason behind the free versus paid selection in Sandbox Coloring as even some licensed character coloring pages are available without a subscription.

Once a Sandbox Coloring user selects the coloring page they wish to work with they simply tap on it and it opens into a new screen. At the bottom of the coloring page is the color key comprised of circles in each color.

Coloring pages are shown in grayscale until they are “colored” or filled in. When a user is ready to begin, they must zoom into the picture to see the numbers, pixel by pixel.

To begin coloring, users tap to select the color they wish to start with, and then proceed to tap the boxes or pixels with the corresponding number. Once a color is selected in the key, the corresponding numbers in the picture become a darker grey, to better guide users.

Once a user has filled all of the picture blocks of a single color, that color circle will appear in the key with lines through it indicating that there are no more blocks in that color left to fill.

The Sandbox Coloring app makes coloring by number foolproof by alleviating the need to scan through hundreds of tiny boxes to ensure that all of a color has been used.

Is Sandbox - Pixel Art Coloring safe for my kids?

It’s important to note that younger users may get frustrated, as the coloring page gallery does not separate free pictures from those which require an app subscription. Coloring pages showing a small heart symbol in the bottom right hand corner indicate that they are premium pictures and require a subscription to complete.

That being said, parents will be happy to note that there are plenty of great pictures available to color, without the need to purchase a subscription plan. However, all subscriptions available are set to auto-renew by default, so parents should be sure to pay close attention to subscription settings.

Parents will appreciate the fact that the Coloring Sandbox app can be played offline allowing users to play it anytime, anywhere.

This app is safe for kids and parents can feel confident allowing children of any age play the Sandbox Coloring app, especially with its lack of advertisements.
