What is Poshmark: Buy & Sell Fashion?

Poshmark is a virtual consignment shop app, where users can buy and sell new or gently used clothing, shoes and accessories. While the app caters to higher end brands, users can find many moderate brands as well -- all up to 70% off of retail.

This app can be downloaded from the App Store and the Google Play Store and is rated for users of all ages.  In-app purchases are made in the form of buying items.

Browse by category, size, color, select an item to purchase, pay, and sellers ship within 7 days. Users have the ability to join parties featuring their favorite designers and styles, simplifying the shopping process.

The Poshmark app is free to download, and often comes with a $5 or $10 perk after downloading, to be used on users’ first purchase. Once downloaded, users have the option to sign up via their Facebook account, Google+ account or email address. 

Once signed in, users can begin shopping by browsing the Poshmark Showroom on the main page, using the search bar for specific items or brands, or searching via categories with filters for size, style, color, etc. 

Posh Parties are virtual buying and selling events, typically used by more experienced Poshmark members. A Posh Party is a pop-up boutique that focuses on a specific personal style, brand or type of clothing. Members enter the party and are able to scroll through items specific to their tastes and sense of style.

Selling through the Poshmark is simple and easy to use, the entire process can be done through a mobile device. Sellers simply take a photo or photos of the items they wish to sell, input an item description, set the price and list, directly from their mobile device. 

More experienced Poshmark sellers amass followers for their “closet” or “boutique” which helps them sell items faster.

One of the perks of selling through Poshmark is that they provide a prepaid, pre-addressed label when items are purchased through a seller’s boutique. And much like eBay, buyers’ purchases are protected through Posh Protect, where the platform insures all purchases.

Whether they set up a closet or boutique, seller fees are $2.95, for items under $15, and 20% of selling price for items priced over $15. 

Once an item is purchased and notification is sent, sellers have seven days to ship the buyer’s purchase; buyers can, however, negotiate a quicker ship with sellers through the platform’s messaging feature.
