What is Photo Editor - Image Beauty?

Previously named Photo Plastic, as in plastic surgery, Photo Editor Image Beautify is a photo editing app that allows users to modify their personal photos with a variety of tools. Photo Editor is available for iOS devices only, is free to download and use, and prominently features ads throughout. This app also includes in-app purchases and is rated for users seventeen and older.

Photo Editor helps users remove blemishes from selfies, thin (or create) a waistline, thin out a face, widen eyes and even add a healthy glow to one’s skin.

Once users download the Photo Editor app and open, they’re taken to a welcome page, which reads: Photo Editor, Beautiful Everyday.

Users then select “Skip” to be taken to the main menu, which prominently displays a banner ad with arrow. The banner ads can be extremely misleading, as they feature arrows meant to confuse app users into tapping to go to the next page or menu, when they will simply open up to the advertiser’s page.

The home screen presents users with a menu of five photo editing options: Reshaping, Figure Shaping, Retouch, Skin Beauty and Edit. Once users select an option, they’re prompted to either “Load From Album” or “Load From Camera”.

Users choose or take a photo, which then launches an ad that plays for 5 seconds before presenting the option to “x” out of the ad. Users should be careful not to tap on the ad unless they wish to be taken out of the app to download the app advertised.

Once the ad has played, the screen opens to the selected photo and presents six different aspect ratio options, one of which is available free of cost (the other options may be purchased via in-app purchases).

Users select their option, press a green checkmark at the top right-hand corner of the screen and are taken to an editing screen, where users can begin to work magic on their photos.

The Figure Reshaping tool allows users to select one of three editing options: Thin, Tall, Manual. Simply swipe along the bar to decrease length or width.

With the Reshaping tool, users swipe their fingers to either expand or contract areas of the photo while the Reshaping tool is all about the body, the Retouch option allows users to modify their face with options such as Thin Face, Thin Head, Eye Large , and Eye Brighten.

Lastly, the Photo Editor app features an Edit menus, which allows users to do everything from changing the color saturation and contrast of their photo, to adding frames, text and special effect overlays to their photos.

Is Photo Editor - Image Beauty safe for my kids?

Parents should know that the Photo Editor app used to be called Photo Plastic [Virtual Pictures Surgery Simulator] and was created for users to perfect their “selfie game”.

Users must be age seventeen years or older to download, so parents should know that younger users are violating the terms of service.

It’s also important to note that the Photo Editor app encourages users to alter their appearances to create “perfect” selfies, which can be damaging to teens struggling with self esteem or overly concerned about appearance.

All-in-all, the Photo Editor app is definitely handy for those looking to quickly add a filter, frame, text or overlay to photos, but some of the photo editing “enhancements” are downright weird and can easily feed into the younger generation’s preoccupation with appearance.
