The Meet Science: Light and Sound app is an educational app designed to teach kids about the scientific explanation of how light and sound work. Meet Science: Light and Sound is one of many educational apps created by the NC iactionbook group, an educational brand of NCSOFT.
This app is only available for iPads and can be downloaded from the App Store for $4.99. It is rated for users of all ages and does not feature any additional in-app purchases or advertisements.
Designed to inspire children to explore the fundamental concepts of light and sound, this version of the Meet Science app teaches kids science in a fun way with animations, experiments, and mini-games. The main menu features four options for users: Learn, Experiments, Glossary, and Mini Games.
In the Learn option, users will be introduced to subjects such as light and shadow, refraction and reflection, sound principles, height and size of sound. Each topic can be reviewed with word quizzes and experiments after a users completes that section.
The experiments section allows users to test out what they have learned so far in an effort to increase comprehension. In the Glossary section, users will find word definitions, information about their favorite scientists, and further applications of these principles.
The app features four games in the Mini Game sections: Point-N-Shoot Waves, Mix-N-Match Colors, Reflect-N-Collect Lights, and Quiz Game. Parents will be happy to know that this app has won numerous awards including the Parent’s Choice Award 2014.
Is Meet Science: Light and Sound safe for my kids?
The Meet Science: Light and Sound educational app is designed specifically for children and is safe for kids. Though this app is rated for users of all ages, it is best suited for children ages 9-11.
This app is safe for kids younger than this, but they may have a hard time comprehending some of the subjects featured or may need some parental guidance to answer additional questions.
This app features no in-app purchases or third party advertisers so parents will not need to worry about any additional expenses or advertisements taking the child away from the app.
