It can be downloaded for free from the App Store and the Google Play Store and does offer in-app purchases but does not feature any advertisements. This app is rated for users 12 years of age and older and is suitable for teens with parental supervision.
What is Flo Period & Ovulation Tracker?
Flo Period Tracker is an app that allows users to track their periods, record PMS symptoms, see when they are ovulating, and accurately predict when it is best for them to attempt to conceive.
It can be downloaded for free from the App Store and the Google Play Store and does offer in-app purchases but does not feature any advertisements. This app is rated for users 12 years of age and older.
Once the app is downloaded, users will be prompted to answer whether they would like to use the app for tracking their period, attempting to conceive, or following their pregnancy.
If the period option is selected, you will then be prompted to submit information regarding the dates of your last cycle, how often your cycle normally lasts, and your age.
From there, the app will ask for your permission in order to send you reminders regarding your period. To add notes about your PMS symptoms and weight, select the teal “+” button in the bottom right of the app.
If you would like to edit your settings or profile, or access other features such as the ovulation and fertility trackers, click on the “More” button at the bottom of the screen.
Is Flo Period & Ovulation Tracker safe for my kids?
When using the app for the first time, users must submit their age in order to verify that they are a minimum of 13 years old.
It is important that parents know that the app contains mature subjects related to pregnancy and sex, and some individuals may not want their child to have free access to this information.
While the period tracker is appropriate for mature teens, the ovulation, fertility, and pregnancy trackers are meant to be used by adults only.
If you are not comfortable with your child using this app by themselves, monitor their usage and have a discussion regarding what you find to be appropriate or not.
It should be noted that while users do not need to create a traditional account with a password, the app still requires individuals to submit a large amount of personal information, such as age, weight, height, and other health details.
Submitting your name is optional, and it is possible to limit the access that the app has to your phone’s data by adjusting the settings. The app does not track a user’s location or access phones’ camera rolls.
Finally, the app does not allow for users to communicate with each other, thus preventing the threat of internet predators. It also does not connect in anyway to other social networking sites.
