What is Fishdom?

A fun match-3 app with a plethora of additional features, the Fishdom app will appeal to players of all ages. Fishdom is free to download and play, but also features ads and in-app purchases.  Fishdom can be found in the App Store and the Google Play Store and is rated for users four years of age and older.

In reality, Fishdom is a match-3 game with a twist, as players earn coins and diamonds through game play, they can then cash in to decorate their fish aquarium and acquire additional fish.

Once the Fishdom app is downloaded and opened, players will notice the many similarities in graphics (and characters) to the Finding Nemo and Finding Dory properties.

Users are prompted by an adorable sea turtle named Tina, whose text box instructs players to enter in a screen name. Once a name has been created, Tina serves as a guide, showing players how to purchase fish and items to decorate their aquariums.

Players are given just enough coins to purchase a clownfish to add to their aquariums, and then leads them to begin gameplay.

Tina guides players through the first few levels of gameplay, showing them how to make matches, tackle objectives, and use strategy to clear levels without using all of their moves. Tina also shows how to earn power-ups through matches as well as how to use them to an advantage.

Fishdom games levels all possess objective players must complete without depleting their given moves, in order to clear the board and progress.

Objectives can be anything from clearing specially marked tiles on the board, to clearing tiles to grab gold hidden beneath.

Fishdom players who do not complete the level objective before exhausting total moves will then return to that level, while players who do clear the level are rewarded for completing in the least amount of moves.

Players are also awarded coins for clearing each level.

Once a level is completed players are taken back to their home screen, which is their aquarium where they can choose to cash in coins for fish or decor or simply watch the witty banter and prominent personalities of the sea life in their tank.

Players also have what’s called an aquarium Beauty level, which is shown with a progress bar at the top of the home screen. Each time a player purchases items to outfit their aquarium, their progress bar fills until they earn stars.

Is Fishdom safe for my kids?

With hundreds of levels of play, Fishdom offers users plenty of gaming fun for free.

The catch, however, is that users will find game play become increasingly more difficult in higher levels without the aid of power-ups.

Power-ups can be both earned and purchased, so parents will want to set spending expectations or password protect in-app purchases to avoid any surprise charges.

There’s a lot going on in Fishdom, but it’s definitely all fun. Appropriate for all ages, parents need only be concerned about in-app purchases, which are easily controlled through password protection. This app is safe for kids.
