What is Eagle Live?
Eagle Live is a live streaming video app, in which users create video logs and compete to climb rankings in the app, higher ranking vloggers receive priority platform featuring. Eagle Live is free to download and use, but does feature in-app purchases. This app is rated for users seventeen and older and is available for both iOS and Android devices.
Within the Eagle Live app, users can live stream videos about their lives, watch videos from other Eagle Live users at anytime, send and receive virtual gifts, share videos to other popular social media platforms, and interact with other users in real-time.
When Eagle Live users first log into the app they’re taken to a home screen with banners touting Playbook Lite and Team Recruit.
An internet search was able to clarify the Team Recruit option, with the app developers having posted a search of Broadcasters and Clan Leaders (team leaders) on a freelance site.
At the time of the advertisement, Eagle Live was offering broadcasters between $2 to $30 per hour, plus a gift bonus (meaning broadcasters can keep the “tips” given to them by followers in the form of gifts), and clan leaders were offered 10% of their team members’ salaries, in addition to 20% of their gift bonus.
All of this is reminiscent of multi-level marketing practices, and makes one wonder how “authentic” many of the broadcasters are. Are they there to entertain, or are they simply there to recruit and cash in?
Eagle Live is a newer app, with growing pains in the form of platform glitches, and seemingly still trying to figure things out. It’s likely better to watch how the app develops rather than simply jumping right in.
Is Eagle Live safe for my kids?
Parents should know that Eagle Live is rated for teens, but app downloads are restricted to users ages 17 years and older, and for good reason.
With any live video streaming app, content is a concern and parents should be sure to monitor their teens’ account with the Eagle Live app.
In addition to the ability for users to watch live stream feeds, they are able to comment and interact with both vloggers and other platform members in live chat feeds. This can be problematic especially since language and comments lack any type of filter, as one can never predict what they’ll see and hear in a live stream.
Eagle Live does communicate broadcasting policies, saying that “Eagle Live is a green broadcasting platform, any vulgar, pornographic or violent content will make your ID and account blocked.”
However, how much these content policies are enforced remains to be seen. And calling itself a “green broadcasting platform” seems to wipe away or excuse any culpability on their part, which parents should definitely take into consideration when determining if the platform is right for their child.
While Eagle Live can be used for free, dedicated users, and those looking to climb levels of the platform (status plays a huge role in this app), will want to take advantage of in-app currency, or coins.
Users purchase coin packages, ranging in price from $4.99 to $99.99, to ‘gift’ or tip their favorite vloggers, as well as to upgrade their own status.
Users are able to “gift” coins to favorite vloggers and followers, as well as to cash out their own in-app currency for real world cash, thus successfully monetizing their channels.
Eagle Live is definitely an app for parents to monitor closely and set spending expectations prior to app use. This app can be safe for older teens with close parental supervision.
