Cyanide & Happiness is the app-based version of the popular cartoon and animated short series by a collaboration of four artists. The Cyanide & Happiness app allows users to easily tune in for a daily comic, latest animated short, and news of convention appearances and other related events.
The Cyanide & Happiness app can be downloaded from both the App Store and the Google Play Store. This app is rated for users 17 years of age and older.
Users can choose from one of two versions of the Cyanide & Happiness app: a free Lite version, and a paid Premium version, which allows users to access more entertainment options.
The Cyanide & Happiness app comes in two versions: a free Lite version and a Premium version for $0.99 cents. Cyanide & Happiness is actually the #1 paid app in Entertainment, and #3 overall paid app in the United States. It would appear that Premium is the way to go with the Cyanide & Happiness app.
Once users download Cyanide & Happiness, it opens to the home screen, which displays the latest daily comic, the latest animated short and the latest news story. Individual tabs allow users to delve further into the app and access more specific items, such as an archived comic.
The Comics tab hosts the entire archive of Cyanide & Happiness comics, shown newest to oldest.
Users wishing to view animated shorts will use the Shorts tab, select the cartoon short they wish to view, and are prompted to choose either their browser or YouTube app to view. Lastly, the News tab hosts everything non-comic, including convention and bookstore appearances, latest short releases, and even new branded merchandise available for purchase.
Below the labeled tabs is an option to check the box next to “Seizure Mode”, which feeds random content to users when they shake their mobile device.
When users come across a comic they like, or locate an old favorite, they can add it to their “Favorites” list, which is accessed under the Comics tab. When a comic is added to Favorites, a user can easily locate and come back to a favorite or missed comic.
Is Cyanide & Happiness (Legacy) safe for my kids?
Parents should be aware that Cyanide & Happiness is rated 12+ in the App Store, but many parents will consider the content fit only for adults. The daily web comic app is best described as dark humor, meant to make people chuckle when having a bad day (or appeal to those with very dark senses of humor).
Parents should know that children using the Cyanide & Happiness app may encounter subject matter pertaining to the following: horror/fear themes, alcohol, tobacco, or drug use or references, cartoon or fantasy violence, simulated gambling, realistic violence, mature/suggestive themes, profanity or crude humor, sexual content and nudity.
At best, Cyanide & Happiness is for older teens, although many parents will take issue with even older teens viewing the app’s raunchy comics and shorts.
Parents should use caution and carefully gauge their child’s maturity level before allowing them to download the Cyanide & Happiness app.
