What is Coolmath Games: Fun Mini Games?

Coolmath Games is the mobile edition of the popular website by the same name, which features the most popular math games from the site.

Available only for iOS devices at this time, Coolmath Games is free to download and play, does not contain any in-app purchases and is rated for players ages nine years of age and older.

The Coolmath Games app is the mobile version of the website, featuring on-the-go versions of their top games. One of a family of websites under the Coolmath umbrella, the original Coolmath site was created in 1997 to help make math fun for those children who don’t find the subject enjoyable.

Of Coolmath Games, in particular, the developer states that:

“This is our brain-training site, for everyone, where logic & thinking meet fun & games. These games have no violence, no empty action, just a lot of challenges that will make you forget you’re getting a mental workout.”

Is Coolmath Games: Fun Mini Games safe for my kids?

Parents should be aware that many of the Coolmath Games do not come with thorough instructions for gameplay, though this app is safe for kids.

While many of the players using the app will already have played on the Coolmath Games website, those unfamiliar with the games may have difficulty understanding how to play or even the goal that is to be achieved in the game.

Also, many of the games are not necessarily optimized for mobile devices as those games with limited instructions instruct users to complete actions only possible if on a desktop or laptop computer, not a smartphone or tablet.

For example, one game in the Coolmath Games app instructs players to hold down a letter key while playing to complete an action and players can only proceed by performing the operation  making the game is not optimized for mobile play.

With more than 80 games included and more added all the time, there’s something fun for every kid and every type of interest.

Some games involve counting, while others are logic puzzles in game form. Ranging from simplistic to sophisticated, the Coolmath Games app features games appropriate for pre-K children through middle school.

Even parents will enjoy playing old favorites such as Sudoku, Solitaire and Peg Solitaire.

While it’s great that the game selection in the Coolmath Games app is extensive and offers a wide variety to choose from, it can also be distracting for younger players.

Instead of dedicating oneself to mastering a single game, younger players may hop from game to game when the going gets tough. Variety is great, but parents may wish to monitor their child’s activity to ensure that they’re focusing on skill mastery instead of flitting from one game to the next.
