What is Arloon Chemistry?

Arloon Chemistry is an educational app that brings the power of augmented reality (AR) to the chemistry classroom.

The app is designed for use in schools to help students learn chemistry by interacting with different 3D representations of molecules, writing formulae for over 3000 compounds, experimenting to form molecules and salts, and watching tutorials to learn the basics of writing chemistry formulas.

Arloon Chemistry is designed for users 13 and older as a classroom aid for those who are learning the basics of chemistry, but it can be used by students outside of class who have an interest in chemistry and the sciences.  Included with the app are a number of practice exercises and activities to reinforce the content learned in class and in the app.

The visual and interactive interface provides a hands-on learning experience that cannot be reproduced in the traditional classroom.

Arloon Chemistry does come with a price of $2.99 to download. It is available for both iOS and Android devices from the iTunes app store and the Google Play store.

It is worth noting that the app has only one review, which stated that the chemistry in Arloon is mistaken in a number of areas, which is discouraging, but something that the developer could be able to fix with an update.

Is Arloon Chemistry safe for my kids?

The Arloon Chemistry educational app is safe for kids. The age recommendation is one that is purely curricular, as younger kids are not academically equipped to learn the concepts of chemistry.

There is no particularly dangerous content as it’s only molecules and periodic tables. Younger kids may need to develop a better base of knowledge in the sciences and the scientific process to really benefit from the app, though.

There is no connection to any kind of social media platforms or discussion boards where kids might encounter cyberbullying or people they do not know. The app also does not have any in-app purchases beyond the original cost of the app, so parents need not worry about unexpected expenses.

Arloon Chemistry offers not only the benefit of teaching the basics inorganic chemistry in an interactive and enjoyable manner, but also helps teach important critical thinking and scientific skills that will be of use for the rest of a student’s life.
