What is ABCmouse.com?

The ABCmouse app is an educational collection of interactive games, books, songs, puzzles, and printable activities for pre-school and kindergarten children through second grade.

It is designed to provide a structured, rewards and play-based environment for learning basic skills in reading, math, science, music, art, social studies, health, and more.ABCmouse uses games and activities of increasing difficulty to build a rewards-based curriculum.

Children receive tokens for the successful completion of each learning activity. Kids can use their tokens for items to decorate a virtual room, acquire pets, and customize their avatar or environment.

Children cannot exchange real money for in-game currency; it can only be earned through completing educational activities. There are no in-app purchases, ads, external links, or opportunities to discover inappropriate user-generated content on the ABCmouse site or within the mobile app.

The ABCmouse curriculum consists of ten levels of difficulty, designed for preschool-aged children (3+) through second-graders (8+). Each level features around 850 age-appropriate educational activities.

With over 8,500 games and activities, children can seek out educational materials that best suit their learning styles – and access them on any signed-in device.

Similar entries in the ABCmouse series include specialized apps for learning about language, math, music, and animals. All are created and managed by the same company, to the same content quality standards.

ACmouse membership is free for teachers and supports Common Core standards, with the ability to create and manage courses of supporting activity for the entire class. It is currently in use in over 65,000 classrooms.

A paid subscription is required to use the ABCmouse app. Parents can sign up on the ABCmouse website or within the mobile app. Existing users can sign in and continue their progress from anywhere, which is particularly handy in families with multiple children. Monthly and annual subscription options exist for families. There is no penalty for canceling your ABCmouse membership, but some parents report difficulty with the cancellation process.

With the ability to set learning courses and levels of difficulty, parents can exercise further control over ABCmouse content to better facilitate their educational development. An in-app parent dashboard provides live reports for tracking each child’s activity and progress, with a Lesson Builder for designing courses of study tailored to their specific educational needs.

Access to in-app settings, the dashboard, and subscription options is restricted via a parental control password.

Some basic skill with electronic devices is required to use the ABCmouse app, such as using touchscreen devices and basic app interfaces. The games and activities themselves are easy to follow, with clear instructions, and the game mechanics are designed for users between two and eight years of age.

The large number of activities makes this app a difficult one for your child to get bored with, and the interactive games make learning fun and entertaining.
