What is YouTube Studio?

YouTube Studio is an app designed to help YouTube creators manage their channels on-the-go. The YouTube Studio app allows YouTubers to check stats, moderate and respond to comments, as well as create video thumbnails from a mobile device.

YouTube Studio is free to download and use, and does not feature any additional in-app purchases.  This app is available for both iOS and Android devices and is rated for teens.

YouTube Studio allows YouTube creators to access their channels and channel information from a mobile device, as well as to carry out minor adjustments. A quick tap takes creators to the Dashboard within YouTube Studio, in which they are shown a “down and dirty” look at overall analytics for their channel.

Included in the analytics overview is the overall watch time (in minutes), the number of views, subscriber change (plus or minus), and user’s estimated revenue, based upon those statistics, for the period selected (day, week, month, year, all-time).

For video-specific information, users tap on the Videos selection and are shown a listing of videos in order of most recent and descending by date posted. At-a-glance analytics are shown for each video in the queue, providing quick stats for the total number of views, comments, thumbs-ups, and thumbs-downs.

When users tap on an individual video, they’re able to get more in-depth information about that specific video, including the total watch time (in minutes), views, and estimated revenue, based upon those statistics. This view makes it easy for creators to quickly take stock of what videos perform best for their channel, as well as low-performing types of video.

When in a specific video, users can tap on the pencil icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to make edits to that particular video. YouTube Studio allows users to edit and change the metadata for videos (titles, tags, and descriptions), as well as to create and update video thumbnail images.

The Analytics information available for YouTube Studio users is pretty thorough. Creators can view their real-time views in addition to total watch time for the period selected, total views, estimated revenue and audience retention rate.

Is YouTube Studio safe for my kids?

Parents should note that users must be ages 13 years or older to have a YouTube account and create video content to be uploaded to a channel.

As such, users must be at least 13 years of age to download and use the YouTube Studio app. The YouTube Studio app is useless without a YouTube channel, so if parents discover this app on their child’s phone, they should know that their child is likely uploading video content to YouTube

In essence, users can do almost everything they need to manage and optimize their YouTube channel on a mobile device, with the aid of the YouTube Studio app.

And with the app, creators will also receive notifications for comments and likes on videos on their channel.

The only thing YouTubers can’t do with the Studio app is to upload and edit videos for their channel, but there are plenty of other apps that can assist them in those tasks.
