Scrabble is a very popular word game app (over 5 million downloads) that allows users to enjoy this fun game with family and friends. Users can play against the computer, invite their friends to play and also play with others around the world. Scrabble can now be played in English, Italian, German, French, Brazilian Portuguese and Spanish.

Once downloaded, users can open the app and accept the User Agreement and Privacy and Cookie Policy. Next, you can start a game by opting to play the computer, login to Facebook to find friends to play with or be matched with a random opponent.

There are multiple difficulty levels and game types. If you want help while playing the game, just turn the “Best Word” feature on or increase your skills by turning on the “Teacher” feature which shows you what your best word could have been after every turn.

During game play, users are invited to install other game apps which they can refuse and continue playing.

There are third-party ads within the app and in-app purchases of coins to be used in game play can be made for $0.99 to $49.99. The purchase is charged to the credit/debit card associated with the Apple or Google account on record. A password is required to complete the purchase

Is SCRABBLE safe for my kids?

This app is safe for teens. Although the classic Scrabble word game is kid-friendly, the app presents some concerns as it relates to children.

Children may enjoy playing with friends and others that they know, but there is the threat of engaging with predators if they opt to send or accept play requests to/from strangers. Parents should be sure to discuss with their children how to stay safe online and encourage them to only play with their friends or the computer.

If there were controls or settings that allowed for blocking invites from strangers and children only played the game with their actual friends, this would be a safe, fun and educational experience.

As this is a gaming app, parents should pay attention to how much time their child is playing on this app to avoid a tech addiction.
