Is Postmates - Fast Delivery safe for my kids?
This app can be safe for mature teens with parental guidance. That being said, terms of service for Postmates requires that users be 18 years of age or older.
Postmates works as any other delivery service and that means that users will be in contact with strangers via the delivery drivers. Delivery people will bring orders right to your home (or wherever you’re ordering from) and will be able to contact you via phone.
Phone contact is meant only as a way to keep users up to date on the status of their order but could be misused in certain cases.
Parents will also want to keep in mind that the point of this app is to spend money and will want to ensure that their children understand spending expectations while using this app. Users can pay for their food in this app using Apple Pay or by inputting a credit card on their account. Spending can easily get out of hand and parents will want to supervise use of this app.
Parents should know that in some areas alcohol delivery is available. Of course users will need to be 21+ to order alcoholic beverages, but this is something parents may want to keep in mind as some kids may attempt to circumvent this.
