Users can post drawings, animations, and images, and comment on other people's work in their feed. Feeds are made up of posts from other users and channels they follow. Verified channels represent companies, brands, or celebrities on the platform.
When users first open this app, they will be asked to sign in or create an account. As this social networking app is built for kids, there are tips and tricks throughout it help keep kids safe online. After creating an account, one of the first notifications served was a reminder for users to never post pictures of themselves or reveal personal information such as their full name, address, or telephone number.
The app features five main screens: Feed, Discover, a Create button, Alerts, and your Profile.
The Feed act just like a Facebook feed of sorts where all of the posts that your friends and the channels that you are following live. Here users can interacts with them, leaving comments, playing games, or solving puzzles. Any channel or user that you follow will appear in your feed.
When users create their account for the first time they will automatically be following some of the PopJam accounts but they are able to search for new friends. They can invited friends using the person icon in the upper right hand corner or they can find new channel in the Discover feed.
The Discover feed also shows users what is trending and games they can play. The Create button in the center of the screen is a way for users to create their own works of art for their feed. User can draw something on screen, utilize photos from their camera roll, and add stickers and text.
The Alerts tab is self-explanatory and is where all alerts and notifications that a user gets lives. Your profile is what other PopJammers see and this is where you can make edits and see what you have posted or rejammed (reposted).
Is PopJam: Games and Friends safe for my kids?
The PopJam social networking app can be safe for older kids with some parental supervision. As this is a social networking site with chatting abilities, parents will want to keep an eye on their kids and make sure to discuss safe internet habits with them.
Parents should know that PopJam makes every effort to keep children safe while using their app, has moderators and monitoring software, and does not allow users to post identifying photos.
PopJam was created with kids in mind so they do strive to create a safe platform for kids to enjoy. This a great introduction to social media for older kids as well as a place to learn more about internet etiquette and how to maneuver in the digital world.
