What is Pictello?
Pictelo is a visual storytelling and schedule app designed for families and families with children on the spectrum.

Pictello allows users to create slideshows that can share family memories with others or to help their children learn schedules and routines. Each slideshow consists of photos and some texts. Additionally, users can record their own voice to go with the slideshow or use the natural text-to-speech feature to read these slideshows aloud.
The combination of photos and videos, along with a recorded voice can encourage kids to create their own stories and read them aloud, helping them improve their literacy skills. The app speaks the words as they are typed in, and can even predict words as you’re writing them.
Parents can import books and materials from Tar Heel Reader to help strengthen children’s reading and writing skills. Pictello has a free server where users can share their stories with others. They can also import their creations to Dropbox or export them to PDF. Pictello is available in dozens of languages and includes customization features.
It has 3.3 out of 5 stars, but only seven ratings. Commenters said that Pictello is an extremely useful tool for their autistic children of all ages (child, teen, adult), and it has fun interactive elements that keep things fresh.
Pictello was developed by AssistiveWare, a company dedicated to augmentative and alternative communication. Similar apps include Proloquo2Go (also by AssistiveWare) and ASD Tools.
