What is Math Vs Zombies - Math Games Grade K - 5?

A fun way to learn elementary math, Math vs. Zombies encourages kids to use their math skills to defend a world overrun with zombies.

Available only in the App Store, this app can be downloaded for $4.99.  Math vs. Zombies is rated for users 4 years of age and older. There are no additional in-app purchases or advertisements.

Math vs. Zombies, developed by TapToLearn Software, is an educational app that features 7 detailed worlds crawling with creepy zombies. Each world has 3 levels of difficulty (easy, medium, hard), and 7 math problems per level of difficulty, progressing from easiest to most difficult at the end.

These problems include the four basic mathematical categories of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. As kids progress the zombies appear, accompanied by eerie music, and present a math problem that players must answer correctly to defeat the zombie and continue to the next level.

Each new level builds upon the skills previously learned, providing motivation for kids to keep playing and practicing their math skills.

Is Math Vs Zombies - Math Games Grade K - 5 safe for my kids?

Math vs. Zombies offers a fun, engaging place for kids to continue to develop and practice the skills learned during school, and in the world of math, no method is more effective than repetition and practice.

The app is generally well-reviewed, receiving a 3.6/5 average on the iTunes app store. Most parents acclaim its ability to keep kids engaged and eager to play more.

A large part of education is the safety of the children being educated and as an app designed to teach math skills to elementary age children, Math vs. Zombies is by nature safe for kids.

The app is rated for kids 4+, and is best for the K-5 age range. There is no foul language, sexual content, exploitative in-app purchasing programs, or harsh violence. The zombies are creepy, but playful, and in no way threatening.

The game is meant to engage kids in math, not scare them away. Parents are often glad to see kids enjoying themselves while learning important math skills and reinforcing the education received during the school day with playtime outside of school.

This said, parents should be wary of the tendency to relegate the educational process to programmed apps alone and should take the time to explore the worlds and problems in Math vs. Zombies with their kids, helping them, challenging them, and enjoying time with them along the way.

The connection that develops between parent and child as they learn and develop important skills is one to be cherished, and while it is always helpful to have a game that helps kids in the process, the important thing is to continue to play an active role in their education.

This app is safe for kids.
