What is Mad Libs?

The Mad Libs gaming app is a digital version of the popular word game. Players use nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs to fill in the blanks of a story. The results are a usually funny and entertaining.


The app offers twenty-one free stories for users to create and there are more available to purchase. Music and sound effects are available, so users can play with a soundtrack and punctuate stories with sounds for humorous effect. Users can also add a laugh track to their stories.

Mad Libs can be downloaded from both the App Store and the Google Play Store. There are no advertisements but this app does feature in-app purchases. This app is rated for users of all ages.

When users open this app for the first time they will be asked to input their date of birth, after that the app shows users a few quick screens to help them with how to play the game. This game is pretty self-explanatory but in the case that any users need help, Phil N. Deblank will help users out.

The main screen features games you play, your books, the bookstore, and other Mad Lib apps that you might be interested in. The bookstore is where users will be able to purchases more games and books. Any books purchased come with numerous stories for players to complete. Users will begin with 21 stories before they will need to purchases news ones from the bookstore.

While playing, users can get more information or hints by swiping left or right while playing. Once a game has been started, users will be prompted to provide words according to the part of speech required. Once finished, users will be able to read their new story in it’s entirety.

The sidebar menu features more information for users by the way of How to Play, Word Tips (explaining different parts of speech), a selection to update your age, Credits, and the Mad Libs Privacy Policy. In-app purchases are available from the bookstore with prices ranging from $1.99 to $4.99.

Is Mad Libs safe for my kids?

The Mad Libs gaming app is safe for kids, so parents can feel confident letting their children play the app without supervision. The app features no ads, but there are in-app purchases are available.

The whole family will love playing this game and it’s a great opportunity to teach kids about the parts of speech as well as reading and writing.
