What is Link2SD Plus (New)?

Link2SD Plus is a premium version of an app that helps Android users manage their file storage, between internal and external storage, by allowing the transfer of files to an SD card.

The Link2SD Plus app removes ads from the platform and contains additional features not included in the free version of the app. Additional features allow users to link internal data of apps to their SD card, link external data and folders of apps or games to their SD card, link dex files of the system apps to their SD card, and activate an auto-clear cache service.

Link2SD Plus creates a workaround for Android users looking to get more, or the most, out of their device. By recognizing a secondary partition on an Android device’s SD card as another segment of internal storage, Link2SD Plus creates a phantom or symbolic link for the Android operating system to recognize upon startup. This maintains the file structure that the system recognizes, but most of the data is actually stores on the SD card rather than internally.

Link2SD Plus does not, however, create the secondary partition users need to make this file system work, so another app will need to be employed to take care of that portion of the process. According to the developer:

You need to use a non-FAT file system (ext2, ext3, ext4 or f2fs) on your 2nd partition in order to link app's private data files. Because the FAT file system (FAT16, FAT32 or exFAT) does not support UNIX file ownership or permissions and will cause a security breakdown of app's private files.

Link2SD does not create the second partition, you need to create it yourself. Additional features of the Link2SD Plus app include:

  • Links internal data directory of apps to SD card

Is Link2SD Plus (New) safe for my kids?

The Link2SD Plus is an app more likely to be used by tech-savvy teens, as opposed to the everyday kid. Because this app is highly technical and advanced, it is not recommended for kids to use.

However, parents should be aware that the Link2SD Plus app is a “use at your own risk” app, in that the app developers provide no warranty for their app, and using an app of this type could also potentially void the warranty on a user’s phone.

Link2SD Plus is really geared toward more tech savvy users, as it requires a bit of knowledge of Android operating systems to fully grasp its capabilities. For example, the average Android user won’t know that they have options apart from their device’s preset storage capabilities.

Be sure to research with the individual phone manufacturer’s terms before attempting to use the Link2SD Plus app.
