The Sight Words app offers users various games that train kids to recognize different words. These games employ over 300 different words all selected from the Dolch word list. These “sight words” refer to words that do not have a correspondence between sounds and letter and thus must be recognized by sight and not through sounding it out.

The Sight Words app offers six total games which vary in difficulty and are designed with different reading levels in mind. Many reviews of this app note the limitations of the lite version and how since there are only a few games offered for free, kids become quickly bored of the available games. The full version of this app can be unlocked for $2.99.

Is Sight Words Learning Games & Flash Cards Lite safe for my kids?

Sight Words is an app designed with jump starting reading in mind and it is safe for kids to use. This app is safe for kids of all ages but is recommended for children ages 3 to 7 who are still in the beginning stages of learning how to read and developing their vocabulary.

Parents should know that the free download of this app only gives users access to the app’s lite version which is restricted to only a few games. This can be remedied by upgrading to a paid version which offers users access to a total of 6 different games.

Sight Words is a great way to immerse kids in the Dolch word list but the app does not offer any incentive for getting things right, it merely offers repetition. Additionally, this app has games designed for different reading levels and games designed for children in certain grades, allowing kids to progress to more complex words.
