What is Repost for Instagram?
Repost for Instagram is a free app designed to be used in-tandem with Instagram. With the Repost for Instagram app, users can quickly and easily share their favorite Instagram photos and posts, while giving proper credit to the original Instagrammer.
The Repost for Instagram app is available in both the App Store and the Google Play Store and is rated for users of all ages. This app features both in-app purchases and advertisements.
Once users download Repost for Instagram and login, the app opens to the user’s Instagram feed. When a user sees a photo they like, they simply tap on the photo and choose one of three options: Save, Repost, or Share.
Users also have the option to save, repost or share Instagram posts with the original caption included, remove the author, and/ or remove the 'Repost' watermark.
When a user comes across a photo or video they wish to repost, they tap “Repost” after having selected additional options, and Repost for Instagram copies the link to the post.
Users are then given the option to repost now or save to repost later. In addition to regular Instagram feeds, Repost for Instagram allows users to navigate to those Instagram posts they’ve already liked, providing a feed of liked posts to pick and choose which to repost.
Is Repost for Instagram safe for my kids?
Repost for Instagram is safe for kids, its sole function is to enable Instagram users to repost content that they find of value. Parents should be aware that this app is designed to be used in tandem with Instagram, so users must already have an Instagram account to be able to use the app properly.
Instagram requires users to be a minimum of 13 years old to register for and open an account, so Instagram terms of service will apply to Repost activity as well.
This app provides an opportunity for parents to revisit what is appropriate (and what is inappropriate) to share on social media, as the app is designed specifically for sharing other users’ Instagram posts.
The app does not give users the option to remove the watermark that notes the original Instagramer. Parents can use this as an opportunity to discuss copyrights and why it’s important for creatives to receive credit for their work.
As this is a companion to the Instagram app, security preferences should be set in the main platform. While Insta Repost is free, it does contain ads, but for a small price, users can pay to have an ad-free experience.
Parents will be happy to know that Repost does not feature in-app purchases.
