What is Kahoot! - Play Learning Games?

Kahoot! is an educational app, designed to make learning and and material review fun through a game design. Great for both the classroom and at home, the Kahoot! app makes learning a mobile activity. Rated for ages four years and older, Kahoot! is free to download and play, and is available for both iOS and Android devices.

Kahoot! is a two-fold app, allowing users to both create and compete on the platform; users may create games or quizzes for use on the app, and they may also play any of the games in the extensive Kahoot! library of games. Games are called kahoots, and may be replayed as many times as needed, in order to aid students in material reviews and additional subject area enrichment.

Teachers using Kahoot! can create multiple choice quizzes or games, with the ability to insert images and video and use in the classroom or as homework for student review. Kahoot! emphasizes the fact that the app allows teachers to assign digital homework that doesn’t require paper and a pencil and can be done anywhere with an internet connection.

While students may complete homework games on a computer, they’re unable to participate in challenges unless they’re using the app on a mobile device. To assign homework with the Kahoot! app, teachers simply share a link, a game PIN, or post the Kahoot! to Google Classroom.

While Kahoot! can be used by students independently, teachers can also create live games or quizzes for students to participate in the classroom; students need only have a mobile device or tablet to compete. With Kahoot!, teachers are able to help students review through fun games and friendly competition, as live games and homework assignments can feature a leaderboard.

Game creation in Kahoot!, however, isn’t just limited to teachers. Students can come up with their own kahoots to help them prepare for tests and quizzes, even unit reviews, in a format that works for them.

Additionally, students can peruse the library of available kahoots to find an already existing game or quiz to prepare for tests, or simply log in to test their knowledge for fun. It’s important to note that children using Kahoot! should be aware that user-created quizzes can often have incorrect answers to the questions, so the focus should likely be on those quizzes created by teachers.

Is Kahoot! - Play Learning Games safe for my kids?

On the whole, the Kahoot! app poses no concern for parents, as it’s a safe and effective tool for enriching and testing subject area knowledge.

Rated seventh in Educational apps in the App Store, and named a Spring 2018 leader by G2 Crowd, Kahoot! is given two thumbs up by teachers, children and parents. Parents can rest easy knowing that the Kahoot! app is given the green light by teachers and is an excellent educational tool for children.
