What is Google Slides?

Google Slides is a free cloud based slideshow creation system in which users can create slide shows, store saved slide decks, and slides with others to complete group work. The app is available free in both the Google Play Store and the App Store and is rated for everyone.

The Google Slides app is the mobile version of Google Slides, a powerful slideshow creation platform, much like Microsoft Powerpoint, that gives users the tools to create and edit presentations and slide decks for everything from school projects to picture slides for celebrations to business proposals and reports.

The power of Google Slides comes from the ability users have to share and sync slideshows with groups and teams. Group members can work in real time on the same slides, seeing the edits and additions other members make as they make them.

All slide decks are saved on the Google cloud system, so users can access them not only from the app, but also from any computer with internet access. All changes are saved automatically, too, so users never lose their work.

Another feature of the Google Slides app is the ability to present slides on video calls, so all on the call can see the slide deck, whether it be for editing purposes or to do the presentation over video. With the app, users can work alone offline.

The Google Slides app is a must have for students and professionals working in group settings, and reviewers agree, scoring the app at a 4.7 out of 5 in the iTunes app store review section.

Is Google Slides safe for my kids?

Google Slides itself is safe for kids, but to access the platform users must have a Google account, which includes social platforms such as YouTube, Google Plus, and Gmail, which come with all the concerns of social platforms, such as mature content and cyberbullying, but this is not part of the Google Slides app itself.

In most cases, the need to use the platform will not arise until users are old enough to do so, as group projects and presentations that require work outside the classroom usually come a little later in school. One strong layer of protection is that slide decks are protected, and require an invitation to participate in editing, so they are not available to anyone.

The benefits are many, including increased group cohesion and communication, making projects easier and more accessible. This has the effect of improving performance in school and at work.

To summarize, the Google Slides app, and the Google Slides platform itself, offer many benefits to those who use it, but users must have a Google account, which may come with a number of concerns for parents of younger children.
