Is Currents safe for my kids?
Google+ is safe for older, mature teens. Teen users are able to edit who is able to see their content, by creating “circles” of family and friends. Google’s age-related privacy defaults apply to this platform, and it will remind users of the circle in which items are shared.
Parents should know that Google+ is connected directly to the user’s email account, which opens the possibility of minors being contacted by people they do not know.
Parents may want to consider talking to their kids what content is and isn't appropriate for sharing online, and how to best protect their online privacy. While the app can be used safely by more mature teens, the Google terms of service require users to be at least thirteen years old before signing up for a Google account.
