The app can be downloaded for free from iTunes and Google Play and is safe for teens to use with parental supervision.
What is DoorDash - Food Delivery?
Food Delivery by DoorDash is a food delivery app that allows users to order from their favorite local restaurants and have their meals delivered to their preferred address.
It is free to download from both iTunes and Google Play. It is rated for users ages four years of age and up and does offer in-app purchases for food delivery.
After downloading the app, users will be prompted to either create a new account or sign in via Facebook. From there, users can either input their preferred delivery address or city, allowing them to browse all of the delivery options in their area.
If you are in the mood for something specific, you can also use the search tool to look for different cuisines or restaurants.
Each restaurant has a menu, and users can tap specific items in order to include special instructions and add them to their carts. Once you have finished choosing your order, you can view a breakdown of the price and delivery fee and then submit it to the app.
There are no minimums for orders and the delivery for your first order is free.
To view your past orders and reorder something that you had previously purchased, simply click on the “Orders” button at the bottom of the app. To update your account information, such as payment methods and addresses, click on “Account” in the bottom right corner.
Like Uber Eats, Food Delivery by DoorDash allows you to track your order in real-time and see where your delivery driver is on a map. The name of the driver as well as contact information is also provided.
Is DoorDash - Food Delivery safe for my kids?
Both iTunes and Google Play rate the app as being appropriate for all ages, but it is best to be used by teens with parental supervision.
Because payment information is saved in the app, kids can order whatever they like without having to have access to a credit or debit card. To prevent this, parents can sign out of the app after each use and make the login information private.
Parents should be aware that if their child uses the app to order food, they will be coming into contact with delivery drivers that they do not know. Because of this, parents may wish that their child only orders food while they are present to help accept the delivery.
Neither the customer nor delivery driver has access to each other’s real phone numbers, meaning that your private number will be protected. Once the delivery has been completed, the driver will no longer be able to contact you.
If you have a problem or concern with your delivery, go to the “Account” section of the app and choose “Delivery Support”. You will then be able to select which delivery you are referring to and submit a help request.
Additionally, by making an account with the app, the company then has access to certain private information and data, such as your location, data on your phone, and payment details. Parents need to decide if they are comfortable with their family’s information being accessed.
