What is Endless Spanish?
Endless Spanish is an educational app from Originator, makers of high-quality educational and entertainment apps, that teaches young children simple Spanish words.
Endless Spanish provides word contexts and includes animations that reinforce sight word cognition. Available in two audio modes, Spanish immersion and Spanish with English translation, the Endless Spanish app is free to download and use, but requires additional in-app purchases to proceed throughout the app.
Available to use in two different modes, Endless Spanish offers Spanish immersion, for native Spanish speakers and advanced learners, as well as Spanish with English translation for non-native, beginning Spanish speakers.
Like the other Originator apps in the Endless series, Endless Spanish offers an introductory set of words for free, and then requires users to either purchase the app in its entirety, for $14.99, or a beginning word pack for $6.99. Should parents purchase the $6.99 package and decide to continue, the remainder of the app can be purchased for an additional $11.99.
The Endless Spanish app opens with a group of lovable monsters at a party, or fiesta, taking turns swinging at a piñata. Once the piñata bursts, a large, but not scary, monster face appears, with a selection of words to scroll through in its mouth; the creature’s upper lip features the Spanish alphabet for easy reference (older users will notice the lack of “ch”, “ll” and “rr” in the listed alphabet).
Is Endless Spanish safe for my kids?
The Endless Spanish educational app is safe for kids. Parents should know that the Endless Spanish app focuses on sight recognition, spelling and pronunciation of frequently used Spanish words.
Devised by the talented artists and developers at Originator, Endless Wordplay is yet another strong example of Originator’s mission to create apps that are both educational and entertaining. From the developers:
Originator develops and publishes the most entertaining and educational mobile apps for kids and families. Founded by a team of passionate artists and engineers, Originator creates truly meaningful digital experiences beloved and respected by kids, parents, and educators. All of our apps have reached the number one position in their categories in the Apple App Store.
As children scroll through the available words, each with illustrated text, they are treated with a pronunciation of each, and can stop and tap on the word they wish to explore. Once selected, the word is pronounced in Spanish, and the English translation is narrated, while the individual letters drop from the word puzzle.
Children then drag each letter to fit it into the proper position, while the letter is pronounced by a narrator and the animated letter makes the sound. Once all letters are in position, the word is again pronounced and a sentence then populates the screen. Three words are pulled from the sentence, including the keyword, and children again must drag them into position to complete the sentence.
This portion gets a little chaotic, with both the animated word pronouncing itself, and the narrator also repeating the word as it’s put into place. Once complete, the sentence is narrated in Spanish, and then repeated in English, with background animation providing visual context.
Again, as with the other Endless apps from Originator, Endless Spanish is a high-quality, multi-faceted and fully interactive learning tool, well worth the sticker price. And while the app is made for children ages five years and younger, it’s likely better suited for the upper end of that age range.
