What is cake live stream video chat?

Cake is a free live video streaming app that allows users to join chat parties or be randomly matched with people in video chats across the globe.

Cake is an adult app for users ages 17 years and older, is free to use but does feature in-app purchases. Cake is only available in theGoogle Play Store.

Think prank calling and party lines for the virtual age, and that pretty much sums up the Cake app. Users are randomly matched with other online users for video chat sessions, with the option to tap “Next” to proceed to the next match.

Is cake live stream video chat safe for my kids?

The Cake app is not safe for kids. In a perfect world people would be using the Cake app to meet interesting people across the world, but anytime an app matches users with strangers, it’s a clear sign that it’s not a good fit for minors.

Parents should know that, in addition to being paired with strangers for video chats, Cake allows users to have private parties and send video messages.

The ability to earn money through streaming and chatting on the app, paired with the ability for strangers to privately contact other users creates a significant problem when minors are using the Cake app underage.

The potential problem is that children may easily be groomed and convinced to share sexually explicit or nude photos and videos of themselves through the platform, at the very least. The worst case scenario would be a local predator arranging a meetup with a minor.

Parents should be aware that Cake features in-app purchases, ranging in price from $0.99 to $199.99, which allow users to purchase coin packages and tokens on the site.

Premium features, such as joining a private chat party, cost extra, which is paid for with coins within the Cake app.

Parents should also know that the Cake app has received a lot of negative press, explicitly concerning underage users and the high amount of sexual content found on the platform.

Users report receiving unsolicited messages from other users, containing pornographic or sexual photos and videos. In a strange twist, Cake users can earn diamonds which are then cashed in for real monetary payouts by creating content that other users like.

The diamond system encourages users to engage in risky behavior, and in fact, the top rated users are all females with profiles featuring them in various provocative poses.

It’s hard to pinpoint what’s most troubling about the Cake app. The app is extremely easy to download and use by underage kids as there is no real age verification.

The fact that the Cake app matches strangers is scary for parents, but there is also a geographic matching angle to the app, which works to match people in the same locale.

Really, there’s no reason why a child should be using the Cake app, and parents should probe their child’s reasoning and activity, should they discover the app on their phone.
